[Murals For Freedom] By Okuda San Miguel in Sofía, Bulgaria

On the 18th and 19th of May, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation organized a series of tributes to the Spanish diplomat Julio Palencia in Sofia, Bulgaria. They included the inauguration of a mural made by the artist Okuda San Miguel at the Miguel de Cervantes Bilingual Institute.

Participating in this tribute were Secretary of State Ignacio Ybáñez Rubio and the Bulgarian authorities, along with representatives of the Shalom association, which gathers together the Bulgarian Jewish community, as well as the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters, from the Sefarad-Israel Center, and family members of the siblings adopted by Julio Palencia.

The result, a portrait of Julio Palencia, possesses all of the hallmarks of the art of the Cantabrian artist in terms of color and geometry.
