Established in the year 2001 in Beirut/Lebanon by identical twin brothers Mohamed & Omar Kabbani, ASHEKMAN is an Arabic street art concept that includes Arabic Graffiti, Calligraffiti, Arabic rap music and Arabic street wear.

They have influenced a lot of people and I’m one of them. And I’m honored to have the twins with us today!

When and how did you first become interested in street art /graffiti?

We were born in the 80’s in Beirut city, our first exposure/inspiration to street art was the stencils of the fighting militias during the Lebanese civil war on the walls of the city, where each party use to tag the wall of the region they control.

Which artist influenced you?

Our main influence is the Arabic calligraphy, there isn’t any specific artist but the rich Arabic culture that existed for thousands of years influenced are art.

What style is your work?

We are specialized in Arabic graffiti, Arabic calligraffiti, and stencils, plus we are constantly searching and evolving new Arabic fonts.

What influences your artwork?

We consider ourselves as the mirror of the society, we are the freedom of speech fighters and the walls of the city are our canvas, so what influence our artwork is normally the daily events in Lebanon and the Middle East.

What do your pieces usually focus on?

Our pieces focus on 2 main messages, spreading the Arabic culture and positivity.

Where your work is usually located?

Mainly in Beirut since it’s our playground since we were infants.

Do you find it difficult to do your work in the streets?

Graffiti logistics are very important, knowing the timing and location of the graffiti is the most difficult thing in the process.

Have you ever had problems with authority because of your artwork?

Yes, we were stopped once, but nothing major happened. Most of the time we were able

We have collaborated with several Local and International graffiti artists like Oras (Lebanon), Relik (Australia), Konte (Bulgaria), Mr Wayne (Italy), Bhino (Brazil), Lenz (France)…
